Nomination Guidelines

The award is divided into the first half of the year and the second half of the year, covering international events held during the periods from 1 January to 30 June and 1 July to 31 December respectively. Invitation emails, along with the nomination forms, will be sent to the National Sports Associations (NSAs) affiliated with the SF&OC in mid-June and mid-December.

 

Eligibility Criteria & Regulations

  • The nominating National Sports Associations (NSAs) must be the affiliated sports associations of the SF&OC.
  • Athletes must be nominated by their respective NSAs.
  • Nominees must be under the age of 19 at the time of achieving their competition results, except for Individual Sport-Team Event and Team-only Sport.
  • For nomination in Individual Sport-Team Event and Team-only Sport, at least half of the team members must be under the age of 19 at the time of attaining the relevant results.
  • Nominees must hold a Hong Kong Identity Card (HKID) and have resided in Hong Kong for at least three years.
  • The eligibility of an achievement will be determined by the last day of the competition. For example, if a competition takes place from 27 June to 4 July, it will be counted towards the second half of the year election since the end date falls in the second half. If the competition extends into January of the following year, it will be counted towards the first half of the new election year.
  • The nomination quota for each NSA per award cycle is as follows:

Individual Sport (including Individual Event and Team Event)

  • A maximum of 4 athletes OR
  • 2 teams OR
  • 2 athletes and 1 team
  • NSAs may submit nominations based on the athletes' individual and/or team event results

Team-only Sport

  • A maximum of 2 teams

 

Nomination Procedures

  • Nomination forms will be sent via email to the NSAs affiliated with the SF&OC in mid-June and mid-December.
  • Complete and submit the nomination form with all required supporting documents either by email or by post (based on postmark dates) to the following address:

  • Late submissions or incomplete forms will not be accepted. Once submitted, nomination forms cannot be amended, returned, or replaced.
  • Deadline for nomination: 
    First half year  No later than July 7th of current year
    Second half year No later than January 7th of next year

REMARKS: If the deadline falls on a Saturday, Sunday or a public holiday, it will be postponed to the next working day.

 

Documents Required for Nomination

  • Completed nomination form bearing the official stamp of the NSA
  • Recent Individual / team photo(s)
  • Official result certificates for the achieved competition results
  • Full competition schedules related to the achievement
  • Supporting documents showing the number of entries
  • Supporting documents showing the names of all participating countries/regions

 

Judging Panel

The Judging Panel comprises one representative each from HKSI, SF&OC and HKSPA. The Panel reserves the right to reject or disqualify any nomination, and its decisions shall be final.

 

Selection Criteria

  • Nominations will be reviewed according to the Elite Vote Support System (EVSS) Generic Scoring Table. Each individual nominee will be evaluated solely on the single competition result with the highest EV point listed in their nomination form.
  • Athletes achieving a EV point of 4 or above will be selected as Awardees.
  • Athletes achieving a EV point of 3 or below will receive the Certificate of Merit or the Certificate of Appreciation.

 

Recognitions

Awardee of the Outstanding Junior Athlete Awards

  • Individual Sport - Individual Event and Team Event Each awardee will receive a cash prize of HK$5,000, a gift voucher for sports apparel valued at HK$2,500 and a certificate.
  • Team-only Sport Each team will receive a maximum cash prize of HK$20,000 and a gift voucher for sports apparel valued at HK$10,000. Within the team, the cash prize and gift voucher value for each individual member shall not exceed HK$5,000 and HK$2,500 respectively. Additionally, each member will receive a certificate.

 

Certificate of Merit

Nominated athletes and teams who are not selected for the awards but whose competition results score EV point of 3 under EVSS or break a Hong Kong Senior Record, will be awarded a Certificate of Merit. Each individual athlete (Individual Sport) will receive a cash prize of HK$1,000. Each team (Team-only Sport) will receive a maximum of HK$4,000 and the cash prize for each individual member shall not exceed HK$1,000.

REMARKS:

1. For eligible team events under Individual Sport or Team-only Sport, if the team is selected as an awardee or recognized with Certificate of Merit, any team members aged 19 or above will be presented with a Certificate of Appreciation only.

2. The cash prizes for Team Event and Team-only Sport will be evenly distributed among all eligible athletes and rounded up to the nearest HK$10. Gift vouchers will be rounded up to the nearest HK$100.

Certificate of Appreciation

A Certificate of Appreciation will be presented to nominees who fulfill the selection eligibility but their competition results do not meet a EV Point of 3 or above as a token of encouragement.

Most Outstanding Junior Athlete Awards

These awards will be presented to the athletes and team with the most exceptional achievements. The awards include the Most Outstanding Male Junior Athlete, the Most Outstanding Female Junior Athlete, and the Most Outstanding Junior Team. Winners will receive a recognition certificate and a trophy.
