Athlete Education & Personal Development Support
The HKSI – as the delivery agent for high performance training for Hong Kong’s elite athletes – recognises the importance of the whole-person development approach to athlete development, and offers athletes educational and career planning services to cater for their different needs at various stages of their sporting careers.
The HKSI provides a comprehensive support to help athletes in their education, vocational and social development as well as their transition from competition to second career. Through the Athlete Education & Personal Development Support Programme, athletes can access to a number of tailor-made and different programmes such as tutorial support, continuing education subsidies and scholarships for athletes who have successfully enrolled in the Partnership School Programme. Athletes also can benefit from different training opportunities to enhance their life skills such as communication, time management and financial management skills, participate in exchanges with counterparts from mainland China and other countries to improve their knowledge and understanding of the structure and development of different sports systems. Athletes may also apply for grants to cover tuition fees as well as subsistence allowances through the Hong Kong Athletes Fund and the Elite Athletes Performance Recognition Scheme, which was set up in 2015, under the Hong Kong Athletes Fund, supports athletes’ pursuit of a second career after retirement from high-level sporting competitions.
