Hong Kong team won seven medals at the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 World University Games.  Among all, fencer Hsieh Sin-yan captured the champion in the women’s epee individual event, becoming the first Hong Kong athlete to defend a title at the Games. In addition, Chan Ho-wah and Yiu Kwan-to made history by securing Hong Kong’s first-ever gold medal in table tennis at the Games, triumphing in the men’s doubles event. Mak Sai-ting claimed a silver medal in the men’s 200m breaststroke event with a new Hong Kong record of 2:10.53, becoming the first male swimmer from Hong Kong to win a medal at the Games. Hong Kong team concluded this year’s Games with 2 gold, 1 silver and 4 bronze.
