Heat Training & Sports Performance

By Ms. Tung Ip

The seminar presented that heat training produces multi-system physiological adaptations that significantly improve endurance performance in both hot and temperate conditions. Key adaptations developed over an optimal window of 10–14 days include increased plasma volume and improved cardiac efficiency. This enhanced cardiovascular economy and better thermoregulation (earlier sweat onset, lower core temperature during exercise) reduce physiological strain and fatigue. The "cross-acclimation" effect means that benefits persist for several weeks, providing a strategic advantage in various competitive environments.
