HKSI’s Response to the 2026-27 Budget
Following today’s announcement of the 2026-27 Budget, additional resources have been allocated through the Arts and Sport Development Fund to proactively promote sports in the community, support elite sports, strengthen Hong Kong’s position as a centre for major international sports events, enhance professionalism in sports, and develop sports as an industry. Mr Tang King-shing GBS PDSM, Chairman of the HKSI, warmly welcomes the initiative.
In recent years, Hong Kong athletes have achieved historic successes on the international stage, including at last year’s National Games and National Games for Persons with Disabilities. Mr Tang said, “We are grateful for the Government’s long-standing commitment and support for elite sport development. We believe the additional funding will further strengthen the development of local sports, including team sports, and enhance support for athletes, enabling them to reach new heights on the international stage.”
The HKSI will continue to support the Government’s sports policies and looks forward to more diverse and higher‑level sports competitions being staged in Hong Kong, as well as to the city’s continued development as a centre for major international sports events and the wider sports industry through the “M” Mark System.
As the Government’s elite sport training systems delivery agent, the HKSI is committed to working in partnership with the Government, the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China, the China Hong Kong Paralympic Committee and the National Sports Associations to provide an environment in which sports talent can be identified, nurtured, and developed to pursue excellence in the international sporting arena.
