HKSI Congratulates HKSI Chairman and
28 Coaches/Athletes on Being Recognised in HKSAR Government’s 2022 Honours List

Dr Lam Tai-fai GBS JP, Chairman of the HKSI, was awarded the Gold Bauhinia Star in the HKSAR Government’s 2022 Honours List in recognition of his contributions of public service over the years, whilst 28 coaches and athletes were also recognised for their remarkable sports achievements. The HKSI offers its warmest congratulations to them for their contributions to the sports sector.

The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government recognised Dr Lam for his distinguished record of public service over the years. As Chairman of the Council of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), Dr Lam has been offering valuable advice and guidance to the PolyU Council and spearheading the PolyU’s expansion project in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area through the establishment of the university’s Foshan campus. Being the Chairman of the HKSI, Dr Lam has made exemplary efforts in promoting elite sports and enhancing Hong Kong’s international standing and reputation in sports.

To recognise the outstanding achievements of athletes and coaches at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games and other major sports events, 28 coaches and athletes were awarded Silver Bauhinia Star, Bronze Bauhinia Star, Medal of Honour and Chief Executive's Commendation for Community Service respectively in the Honours List.

The HKSI Head Cycling Coach Shen Jinkang, cycling athlete Lee Wai-sze, fencing athlete Cheung Ka-long, and swimming athlete Siobhan Haughey were awarded the Silver Bauhinia Star. The HKSI Head Fencing Coach Zheng Kang-zhao and boccia athlete Leung Yuk-wing were awarded the Bronze Bauhinia Star.

The HKSI Fencing Coach Gregory Koenig, the HKSI Head Karatedo Coach William Thomas, karatedo athlete Lau Mo-sheung, the HKSI Head Swimming Coach Chen Jianhong, swimming coach Richard Bishop, the HKSI Head Table Tennis Coach Chan Kong-wah, table tennis athletes Doo Hoi-kemLee Ho-ching and Soo Wai-yam, head boccia coach Kwok Hart-wing, boccia athletes Lau Wai-yan and Wong Kwan-hang, para badminton coach Liew Nammin, para badminton athlete Chan Ho-yuen, para table tennis coach Chan Hui and para table tennis athlete Wong Ting-ting were awarded the Medal of Honour.

Cycling athlete Lee Sze-wing, para table tennis athletes Lee Ming-yip and Tong Chi-ming, para swimming coach Leung Shuk-ying, and para swimming athletes Cheong Sui-kei and Wong Hon-yin were awarded the Chief Executive's Commendation for Community Service.
