2010 Hongkong Bank Foundation Coaching Awards Call for Nominations

08 December 2010

Hong Kong athletes have achieved breakthrough results at the just concluded Guangzhou 2010 Asian Games.  While we are applauding the athletes’ outstanding achievements, we should not overlook the contribution from the coaches, who have contributed a lot to athletes’ success. The 2010 Hongkong Bank Foundation (HBF) Coaching Awards, the most prestigious Awards and the sole programme to recognise the achievements of coaches in Hong Kong on a territory-wide basis, invite nominations now.

Organised by the Hong Kong Coaching Committee (HKCC) and funded by the HBF, the annual HBF Coaching Awards, since its inception in 1993, aims to pay tribute to the coaches for their dedication and contribution to athletes training and the overall sports development in the territory.

There are six categories of awards under the 2010 HBF Coaching Awards – Coach of the Year Awards, Distinguished Services Award for Coaching, Coach Education Award, Best Team Sport Coach Award, Coaching Excellence Awards and Community Coach Recognition Awards. All National Sports Associations (NSAs) affiliated to the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China (SF&OC) are welcome to submit nominations for the awards.

Amongst the Awards, the Community Coach Recognition Awards aim to recognise local outstanding coaches who have made special contributions to the coaching of athletes/ teams.  NSAs, District Sports Associations, Community Sports Clubs and other sports organisations are welcome to submit their nominations for this category of award to honour coaches who have devoted to community sport development.

Nominations for the 2010 HBF Coaching Awards will be closed on 7 January 2011.  Presentation Ceremony will be held in April 2011. Please visit the HKCC website at www.hkcoaching.com for details.

The HKCC, a joint committee of the SF&OC and the Hong Kong Sports Institute, was established in 1991 with an aim to formulate and implement short-term and long-term strategies for the development of coach education and accreditation programmes in Hong Kong.
