HKSI and Hang Seng join hands to boost athletes・ morale

To boost the morale of Hong Kong athletes participating in the Guangzhou 2010 Asian Games and the Asian Para Games, the HKSI and Hang Seng Bank once again joined hands to offer cash incentives to local medallists at the two Games through the Hang Seng Athlete Incentive Awards Scheme.

To gain more public support for the Hong Kong athletes, two short videos were specially produced before the start of the Games and broadcast on 3,200 buses around the territory from 1 November and on the giant screens at the Victoria Park and Urban Council Centenary Park from 12 November. In addition, a cheer-up activity was held on 1 November with over 30 Hang Seng staff members coming to the HKSI headquarters to send their best wishes to the athletes.

HKSI athletes, coaches and sports professionals share preparations for Asian Games

Following the two :meet the media; sessions held for triathlon and fencing in September, the HKSI organised another eight sessions from October to early November, where elite athletes and coaches from six Elite Sports, including athletics, badminton, rowing, wushu, windsurfing and karatedo, as well as HKSI sports medicine and sports science professionals, were lined up to meet the media and share their preparations for the Asian Games.

Secretary for Home Affairs exchanges views with athletes on Asian Games

The Secretary for Home Affairs Tsang Tak-sing, together with representatives from the Hong Kong Schools Sports Federation, the Hong Kong Elite Athletes Association and the Hong Kong Table Tennis Association, visited the HKSI on 9 November and toured the redeveloped facilities at the site. He also exchanged views with HKSI athletes, coaches and other sports bodies on Hong Kong・s potential bid to host the 2023 Asian Games.

LegCo members visit HKSI

Following the completion of the first phase of the HKSI Redevelopment Project earlier this year, members of the Legislative Council・s Panel on Home Affairs, including Chairman Ip Kwok-him, Deputy Chairman Kam Nai-wai, Timothy Fok and Wong Yuk-man, as well as member of the Finance Committee Chan Mo-po, visited the HKSI on 6 October to understand the progress of the Redevelopment Project, and toured the upgraded and expanded facilities at the site.


European Society of Sports Traumatology, Knee Surgery and Arthroscopy Travelling Fellows visit HKSI

Three recipients of a traveling fellowship offered by the European Society of Sports Traumatology, Knee Surgery and Arthroscopy led by Prof. Philippe Beaufils visited the HKSI on 22 October. They exchanged views with the HKSI in elite training and toured the HKSI・s elite sports training facilities.

University of Santo Tomas students visit to HKSI

Thirteen sports science students led by a faculty member from the University of Santo Tomas in the Philippines visited the HKSI on 25 - 26 October. During their 2-day visit, students received lectures and demonstrations presented by HKSI staff on the Institute・s services including sports science, sports medicine, and strength and conditioning. The students also toured the HKSI・s elite sports training facilities.

It also has a chapter describing injuries seen in each sport, and a glossary of medical terms. The new edition has been revised and updated with the latest information and development in the area. This book is a useful resource for those who play sports, coaches, and medical professionals.
