Cycling anatomy
(SIC call no.: GV1048 .S68 2009)

The book is published by Human Kinetics in 2009 and authored by Shannon Sovndal, a physician and former cyclist. The author shows how to improve performance through various cycling exercises; and how to modify these exercises to target specific body parts, reduce muscle tension and minimise injuries. Each exercise comes with clear, step-by-step descriptions and full-colour anatomical illustrations. Readers can also learn ways to consolidate knowledge taught in the book and design their own training programme. This is a good reference for all levels of cyclists who want to maximise cycling power, speed and muscular endurance.

The athleteˇ¦s guide to making weight
(SIC call no.: RC1235 .M26 2009)
The book is published by Human Kinetics in 2009 and written by Michele Macedonio and Marie Dunford, specialists in sport dietetics. The book shows how to determine, achieve and maintain optimal weight and body composition to maximise performance for 21 different sports. Content is divided into three parts, the first part is about goal assessment and setting optimal weight; the second part explains the importance of nutrition in weight control and how to achieve the optimal weight; the last part describes meal plans that align with training programmes. This book will help athletes fulfill training targets without sacrificing performance or safety.
