Sha Tin Youth Service Corporation members visit HKSI

Around 30 members from the Sha Tin Youth Service Corporation visited the HKSI on 14 October, where they were taken on a guided tour of the HKSI・s elite sports training facilities, followed by a sharing session by wushu athlete Wong Chun-wai.

Kwok Ho-ting attends Canon environmental event

In recent years, more and more organisations have proactively participated in low-carbon and environmental campaigns. With the cycling sport widely considered as a perfect match with environmental-friendly initiatives, Canon Hongkong Company Limited recently invited world champion cyclist Kwok Ho-ting to visit the Eco Expo Asia, as well as to officiate at its kick-off ceremony on 26 October to arouse public attention to environmental sustainability.

Fung Wing-see supports :Happy Angels;

Wushu athlete Fung Wing-see gave her full support to the Amway :Happy Angels; V Children Mental Health Nurturing Project by officiating at the kick-off ceremony on 8 October. The event was organised by The Boys・ & Girls・ Clubs Association of Hong Kong, where Fung shared her experience with the children, parents and volunteers in attendance, as well as demonstrated warm-up exercises to bring out a positive life attitude to the audience.

NASM's essentials of corrective exercise training

More than one hundred corrective exercise techniques in the categories of self-myofascial release, static stretching, neuromuscular stretching, isolated strength training, positional isometrics and integrated dynamic movements are illustrated in this book. It helps improve muscle imbalances and movement efficiency to decrease the risk of injury. It is a valuable resource for both the beginners and advanced corrective exercise specialists, as well as health and fitness professionals.
 
Prescriptive stretching

This book introduces a stretch method which is called Proprioceptive Muscular Facilitation (PMF), also known as contract-release. It involves stretching the muscle to the end point, relaxing, tightening the muscle without moving, relaxing again and then stretching towards a new end point, and repeats the movement several times. It explains 40 step-by-step stretches with full-colour anatomical illustrations and features a pain relief section in the final chapter. It is recommended to sport enthusiasts and anyone with muscle discomfort.
