Overtraining athletes: personal journeys in sports
(SIC call no.: GV 711.5 .R53 2008)

Authored by Sean O. Richardson, Mark B. Andersen and Tony Morris, and published by Human Kinetics, this book helps readers understand the risks and prevention of overtraining. The book is written in a nonlinear structure - readers do not need to read from the beginning but can pick any chapter according to their interests. The content is divided into four parts: the first part reviews research which examines aspects of overtraining; the second part presents coachesˇ¦ and sports scientistsˇ¦ views on overtraining; the third part presents athletesˇ¦ experience of overtraining and authorsˇ¦ reflections on the cases; the final part introduces a comprehensive model to examine the effects of various risk factors on overtraining. This book is a good reference for athletes, coaches and sports scientists.
