Li Ching tells stories

As Hong Kong elite athletes gain visibility in the community, the range of activities they attend has become more diversified. On 20 July, table tennis athlete Li Ching was invited to the 22nd edition of the Hong Kong Book Fair organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, where he participated in a ¡§Storytelling by Celebrities Series¡¨ session.


Students from Never Give Up Association visit HKSI

Organised by the Hong Kong Elite Athletes Association, a group of 200 students from the Never Give Up Association under the Solar Project of Radio Television Hong Kong visited the Hong Kong Sports Institute (HKSI) on 27 July, where they were introduced to the sports structure in Hong Kong and the works of the HKSI, and took part in a guided tour of the Institute¡¦s elite sports training facilities. A number of current and retired athletes also showed their support for the event by sharing their experience with the students.

A 12-member delegation from the Hong Kong Public Relations Professionals¡¦ Association (PRPA), led by President William Ip, visited the HKSI on 5 August, where they toured the elite sports training facilities, and met with the HKSI¡¦s Chief Executive Dr Trisha Leahy and public affairs and marketing staff, as well as elite athletes to gain a better understanding of how the HKSI works with the media and its commercial partners in promoting elite sports.

This book helps coaches to develop their basic technical skills and strategies for working with athletes. This book well suits for practising coaches to enhance and extend their coaching techniques and philosophies.

The author Sage Rountree is a certified coach on cycling, triathlon, and running as well as an experienced registered yoga teacher. This book is divided into three main parts : defining and measuring recovery, recovery techniques and recovery protocols. It introduces how to get total recovery and improve performance, how much rest should be taken after training, how to measure fatigue and how to make use of recovery tools. This book is a good reference for athletes and coaches to find out the balance between training and recovery.
