Income

The allocation from the Elite Athletes Development Fund (“EADF”) is the HKSI’s main source of income. Total EADF allocation received by the HKSI in 2021/22 was HK$737.0 million (2020/21: HK$737.0 million), of which HK$151.7 million (2020/21: HK$143.9 million) is designated to “Direct Financial Support to Athletes” (“DFS”), and the balance of HK$585.3 million (2020/21: HK$593.1 million) is the funding for Elite Training Programme and the HKSI’s operations.

Expenditure

Total expenditure for 2021/22 was HK$769.7 million (2020/21: HK$648.0 million) which is higher than 2020/21 by 19%. The increased expenditure in 2021/22 was mainly on Elite Training Programme for the preparation of Tokyo 2020 Olympics and Paralympics and Games Incentives to athletes who have achieved best-ever results in Tokyo 2020 Olympics and Paralympics.

Surplus

The surplus for the year was HK$54.1 million.
