Junior squash team wins 6 gold medals at the Welsh Junior Open and the Austrian Junior Open

Junior squash players Tong Tsz-wing, Liu Tsz-ling and Au Wing-chi won their Girls Under 15, Girls Under 17 and Girls Under 19 titles respectively at the Welsh Junior Open held on 2-4 March in Cardiff, United Kingdom. Fresh from their success, they secured the same title in their respective categories at the Austrian Junior Open held on 9-11 March in Vienna, Austria.

Table tennis team wins 2 medals at the ITTF Pro Tour Kuwait International Open

The Hong Kong table tennis team won 1 silver and 1 bronze medal at the ITTF Pro Tour Kuwait International Open held on 19-22 February in Kuwait City, Kuwait.

Tennis player Zhang Ling wins her first professional title in the ITF series tournament

Hong Kong tennis player Zhang Ling won her first professional singles' title in the ITF Women’s Circuit (Wellington leg) held on 26 February – 4 March in Wellington, New Zealand.

Wheelchair fencing team wins 10 medals at the Wheelchair Fencing World Cup

The Hong Kong wheelchair fencing team won 5 gold, 1 silver and 4 bronze medals at the Wheelchair Fencing World Cup held on 8-11 March in Valencia, Spain.

Coaches nominated for prestigious Awards

A total of 115 nominations were received from 32 National Sports Associations and community sports clubs for the 2006 Hongkong Bank Foundation Coaching Awards. Awards in six categories of excellence will be conferred at the Awards Ceremony to be held on 13 May 2007 at the Grand Hyatt Hong Kong. The Awards Scheme is the only territory-wide programme that recognises the contributions of coaches, who are the driving force behind every successful athlete.

Hongkong Bank Foundation Coaching Directors Forum's participants tour HKSI

The annual Hongkong Bank Foundation Coaching Directors Forum was held on 24 March at the Hong Kong Sports Institute (HKSI). A total of 32 representatives from 22 National Sports Associations attended the Forum. The HKSI arranged a tour of its new headquarters facilities at the Wu Kwai Sha Youth Village. Participants visited the training facilities and various ancillary facilities.
