HKSI and Hang Seng recognise National Games medallists
Through the Hang Seng Athlete Incentive Awards Scheme, the Hong Kong Sports Institute (HKSI) and Hang Seng Bank will present a total of HK$1.05 million to the eight National Games medallists in recognition of their outstanding achievements.

To boost athletes¡¦ morale, the Scheme also published a series of newspaper supplements in seven major local newspapers.

Site visits of HKSI Redevelopment Project

The HKSI Board of Directors and members of the HKSI Redevelopment Project Steering Committee visited the HKSI headquarters at Fo Tan and the temporary velodrome at the Whitehead Club on 3 November to see the latest progress of the Project. Another site visit, also joined by the HKSI Board of Directors, was arranged for the Secretary for Home Affairs, Tsang Tak-sing, and members of the Sports Commission and Elite Sports Commission on 19 November, where they were updated with the latest progress of the redevelopment works.


Hongkong Bank Foundation Continuing Coach Education Programme (CCEP)

Some 140 coaches attended the "Ways to handle adversity" seminar organised by the Hong Kong Coaching Committee on 13 November at the Hong Kong Baptist University Shek Mun (Shatin) Campus.  Dr. Si Gangyan, Sport Psychologist of the HKSI, introduced to coaches on how to explore athletes’ psychological potential to combat against adversity.


Rebecca Chiu named 3M product endorser

With her professional image as a squash athlete, Rebecca Chiu was invited to be a product endorser for 3M’s new joints protection products “FUTURO”. The shooting session was completed in late October and the advertisements were launched in phase in newspapers, magazines and MTR stations in late November.

Billiards revised and updated: the official rules and records book

The book is published by The Lyons Press and edited by the Billiard Congress of America (BCA) in 2005. It provides updated official rules for all forms of billiards and pool, such as carom, nine ball, rotation and snooker games. Content also includes professional tips on basic skills and strategies, an explanation of billiard terms, and a summary of BCA billiards champions. It is a concise and informative reference for all levels of billiardists.

The book is published by Wan Li Book Co., Ltd in 2007 and written by Liang Pin. It contains the fundamentals, techniques and training methods of karate; strength and flexibility training; karate’s history and origins, genres, etiquette, terms, and rank etc.; and an introduction on the World Karate Federation. Techniques are presented in diagrams in the book and demonstrated on the accompanying DVD. The book is an ideal reference for karate enthusiasts.
