Congratulations to the Hong Kong team for winning 5 gold, 8 silver and 5 bronze medals – ranking 5^th on the medal tally – at the 1^st Asian Youth Games held on 27 June – 7 July in Singapore.

A total of 46 young athletes (aged 18 or below) represented Hong Kong in 6 sports: athletics, bowling, football, swimming, table tennis and windsurfing. Athletes who achieved medals at the Games were awarded scholarships at a presentation ceremony held on 29 July at the Hong Kong Sports Institute (HKSI). The ceremony was officiated by Victor Hui SBS JP, Chef de Mission of the Hong Kong Delegation and Jonathan McKinley, Deputy Secretary for Home Affairs.

Congratulations to the Hong Kong team (Hong Kong Sports Association for the Mentally Handicapped) for winning 10 gold, 10 silver and 8 bronze medals – ranking 4^th on the medal tally – at the 2^nd Global Games held on 5 – 13 July in Liberec, Czech Republic. Both the total number of medals and gold medals had exceeded that achieved in the 1^st Global Games: 26 medals and 7 gold medals.

A total of 26 athletes represented Hong Kong in 3 sports: athletics, swimming and table tennis.

The Hong Kong badminton team won 1 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze medal at the Australian Open Grand Prix held on 22 – 26 July in Melbourne, Australia.

The Hong Kong cycling team won 1 gold and 2 bronze medals at the China National Junior Road Championships held on 8 – 12 July in Changchun, China.

The Hong Kong fencing team won 1 gold, 5 silver and 7 bronze medals at the Asian Junior and Cadet Fencing Championships held on 16 – 21 July in Singapore.

The Hong Kong squash team won 1 gold and 1 bronze medal at the Dutch Junior Open held on 9 - 12 July in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

The Hong Kong squash team won 1 gold and 1 silver medal at the Pioneer Junior Cup held on 3 - 6 July in Cologne, Germany.

Hong Kong squash athlete Au Wing-chi won a silver medal in Women's Singles at the Clare Valley Australian Open held on 13 - 20 July in Clare, Australia.

Hong Kong swimmer Hannah Wilson won Hong Kong’s first ever gold at the 25^th World University Games held on 1 – 12 July in Belgrade, Serbia. Her gold medal performances in the Women's 100m Freestyle and Women's 100m Butterfly also resulted in two Games records.

The Hong Kong table tennis team won 3 bronze medals at the 15^th Asian Junior Table Tennis Championships held on 22 - 26 July in Jaipur, India.

Hong Kong tennis athlete Lam Siu-fai won a bronze medal in Boys’ Doubles at the Amman ITF Jr. Circuit (Grade 5) held on 20 - 24 July in Amman, Jordan.

Hong Kong tennis athlete Lam Siu-fai won a silver medal in Boy’s Doubles at the 25^th Damascus International Junior Tournament (Grade 4) held on 13 - 17 July in Damascus, Syria.

Hong Kong tennis athlete Yang Zijun won a bronze medal in Women's Singles at the 10K Shenzhen held on 7 - 12 July in Shenzhen, China.

Hong Kong tennis athlete Yau Long-fung won a bronze medal in Boys’ Doubles at the Amman ITF Jr Circuit 2 (Grade 4) held on 27 - 31 July in Amman, Jordan.

Hong Kong tenpin bowler Wu Siu-hong won a silver medal in Men’s Singles at The World Games held on 16 - 26 July in Kaohsiung, Taiwan.

The Hong Kong triathlon team won 5 gold, 6 silver and 4 bronze medal at the Port Dickson International Triathlon held on 11 - 12 July in Port Dickson, Malaysia.

The Hong Kong windsurfing team won 1 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze medal at the IMCO World Championships held on 6 - 12 July in Warnemunde, Germany.

Hong Kong windsurfer Chan Hei-man won a gold medal in RS:X Girls at the 39^th ISAF Youth Sailing World Championship held on 9 – 18 July in Búzios, Brazil. Chan is also the first Hong Kong athlete to win an ISAF Youth Sailing World Championship title.

Hong Kong windsurfer Lo Sin-lam won a bronze medal in RS:X Youth Women at the RS:X Youth Windsurfing World Championships held on 25 July – 1 August in Yalikavak, Turkey.

The Hong Kong wushu team won 2 silver and 1 bronze medal at The World Games held on 16 - 26 July in Kaohsiung, Taiwan.
