Income

The allocation of HK$858.4 million to the Elite Training System included HK$202.2 million in payments to athletes under the “Direct Financial Support Scheme” and HK$656.2 million for athletes’ training programmes (including training programmes for Tier A and Tier B sports, Team sports, and Para sports), sports science and medicine support, lifestyle provisions and education subsidies for the athletes.
Expenditure
Total expenditure in 2024/25 was HK$1,057.8 million (2023/24: HK$1,004.2 million), representing an increase of 5% compared to the 2023/24 expenditure. The increase in the number of athletes receiving Direct Financial Support, along with the opening of the New Facilities Building in December 2024, contributed to the rise in the expenditure for 2024/25.
Operating Result for the Year
In the 2024/25 budget, it was planned to use HK$53.3 million from the General Reserve, which had accumulated to HK$289.8 million, to fund part of the 2024/25 operating expenditure.
