Assistant Sports Information and Database Manager (SIC)

The Hong Kong Sports Institute Limited (“HKSI”) is the Government’s delivery agent to provide the high performance training system for eligible sports. The HKSI’s mission is to provide an environment in which sports talent can be identified, nurtured and developed to pursue excellence in the international sporting arena benchmarked at Major Games results. We are now inviting suitable candidates for the following vacancy:

 

The Job

Reporting to the Sports Information and External Affairs Manager of the Sports Information and External Affairs Centre, the Assistant Sports Information and Database Manager will be responsible for the following duties:

  • To be responsible for HKSI’s New Athletes Management System (NAMS) architecture strategy, planning & design of cluster database systems, day-to-day database maintenance & operation, and project management;
  • To manage NAMS server consolidation, storage consolidation, and task automation;
  • To work closely with IT team and external vendors in preparing test plans, conduct testing, coordinate UAT and provide NAMS training to all users;
  • To design & perform routine database management and operation tasks, such as installation and configuration of database servers, automation, capacity planning, performance monitoring, tuning, problem determination and solving of database systems;
  • To manage users’ requirements gathering, analysis and documentation and act as a bridge between users and technical team to ensure the operation requirements and data analytics well address operation needs;
  • To work closely with development team and external vendors to ensure the requirements can be completed timely;
  • To manage the operations of Sports Library, the e library system, the library users’ database and library services to all users; and
  • To perform any other duties assigned by supervisor.

 

The Requirements

  • A degree holder in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Studies or related discipline;
  • A minimum of 4 years’ relevant experience in project management;
  • Proficient in computer software applications such as Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint;
  • Sound knowledge of database administration & input, including database design, implementation, migration, and maintenance;
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Power Platform;
  • Familiarity with cloud-based database environments and migration strategies would be an advantage;
  • Strong sense of responsibility;
  • Good command of both spoken and written English and Chinese. Ability to speak Putonghua is an advantage; and
  • Awareness/ knowledge of Child Protection in sport and equal opportunity issues in the context of Hong Kong are an added advantage.
