Ninety-eight primary and secondary teachers were presented with Hongkong Bank Foundation School Coach Accreditation Programme attendance certificates at a certificate presentation ceremony held on 30 July.
Elite sports training in Hong Kong boosted with extra funding
The Hong Kong Sports Institute (HKSI) has allocated a sum of HK$43 million to provide direct financial support to over 520 local elite athletes from 43 sports in 2008/09, representing an increase of over 20% compared to last year.

Paralympic gold medallist Yu Chui-yee shares experience with students

Yu Chui-yee, wheelchair fencing athlete and 4-gold medallist of 2004 Athens Paralympics, was invited by the Hong Kong Jockey Club to share her experience with 50 Beijing students and 50 local students of the Equestrian Youth Ambassador Programme at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology on 16 July. The programme aims to provide a platform for young people in Hong Kong to engage in the promotion of equestrian Olympic events and the Olympic Spirit.

This book is published by Human Kinetics in 2007, and edited by Daniel Smith and Michael Bar-Eli. Smith has been a sport psychologist for 25 years and Bar-Eli is the senior vice president of Asian-South Pacific Association of Sport Psychology (ASPASP). Consisting of a collection of 50 readings, the book covers the historical foundation of sports psychology; factors that affect people’s understanding of sport and exercise behavior; factors that affect athletic behavior; importance of understanding group processes; concepts associated with performance enhancement; influence of psychological factors on health and wellness; relationship between psychology and sports and exercise participation; and various issues for sports psychologists.
